How do I make the icons on my store bolder?

The Icons tab sets the line weight of the icons on your store. One setting changes every icon at once.

Where to find it

Open the builder, click the gear icon, and open the Icons tab. The section is called Icons appearance: Choose the stroke weight of your store icons.

Stroke

Stroke has two options:

• Default: thin, light lines. This is the normal look of your theme.
• Heavy: thicker, bolder lines. Icons stand out more.

The setting applies to all the store icons: the cart, search, and account icons in the header, menu arrows, the close buttons of popups, the icons in form fields, and the icons you pick in sections such as benefits.

Change it step by step

1. Open the Icons tab in Settings.
2. Click Default or Heavy. The preview changes right away.
3. Check the header, a product page, and the checkout form in the preview, on desktop and on mobile. See Preview modes.
4. Click Publish.

Which one to choose

• Default suits light, airy designs and thin fonts.
• Heavy suits bold designs, heavy fonts, and stores where most shoppers are on phones, because thicker icons are easier to see on a small screen.

A good rule: match your icons to your text. If you set Text weight to Medium or Bold in the Fonts settings, Heavy icons usually look right next to it.

Related settings

• Icon colors come from the color scheme of the section, not from this tab. See Color schemes.
• Whether form fields show icons is set in the Inputs tab. See Inputs settings.
• Which icon a block shows (for example in a benefits section) is chosen in that block, with its icon picker.

Images are not icons. Your logo, product photos, and the payment brand logos at checkout keep their look whatever Stroke you choose. The icons of the builder itself do not change either, only your store.

Common tasks

• My cart and search icons are hard to see: set Stroke to Heavy. If they are still hard to see, check the heading and text colors of your header scheme.
• Icons look too heavy next to my thin font: set Stroke back to Default.
• The icons did not change on my live store: click Publish, and check that you changed the market your visitors use.
• I want bigger icons, not thicker ones: the size is set in the block or section that shows the icon, where it has a size setting.

Good to know

• The setting belongs to the market you are editing and applies to all its pages.
• Changes go live when you click Publish.
