Every market has its own design: its own version of each page and its own global settings (colors, fonts, checkout form, and so on). When you add a market, you can copy the look of an existing market instead of building it again. The builder has two ways to do this.
Where to find them
- Click the Markets tab (the country flag) at the top of the left sidebar.
- Click the market you want to change to open it. This is the market that receives the copy.
- Open the menu on the market you want to copy from, or right-click it.
- Choose Clone selected page or Clone market.
The two clone options only show on markets other than the one you are editing, because a market cannot be cloned into itself.
Clone selected page
The hint under it shows the name of the page you are on. It copies the sections of that page from the other market into the same page of the market you are editing. Nothing else changes: your other pages and your global settings stay as they are.
- It works like any other edit. You see the result in the preview, Undo reverses it, and you must click Publish to make it live.
- It copies the version of the page that is published in the other market. Unpublished edits there are not included.
- You see Cloned followed by the page and market names when it is done.
Clone market
The hint under it says All pages and settings. It copies every page and all global settings of the other market into the market you are editing. A warning asks you to confirm: "This will overwrite all pages and settings of this market." Click Clone to go ahead.
- It replaces the whole design of the market you are editing.
- It is saved to your live store right away. No Publish is needed.
- It cannot be undone. To keep the old design, export it first with Export theme preset.
- It copies the published version of the other market, not its unpublished edits.
- Your theme does not change, because the theme is the same for all markets.
Restore default design
To start over, open the menu on any market and click Restore default design. It puts that market back on the starter design that new markets start with, written in the market's language. A warning asks you to confirm. Click Restore to go ahead.
- It replaces every page and all global settings of that market.
- It is saved to your live store right away. No Publish is needed.
- It cannot be undone. To keep the current design, export it first with Export theme preset.
- The pictures of the starter design are added to your media library.
What is not copied
Cloning only copies the design. It does not touch the market's language, currency, shipping, products, or prices. Those are set in the market itself: click Edit in the same menu, or see Set up markets.
After cloning
- Translate the text. Text is copied exactly as it was, so a market in another language still shows the words of the market you copied from.
- Check the checkout form. With Clone market, the checkout form fields come from the other market too. See Checkout form fields.
- Check the header and footer menus, and any links to collections or products that are not sold in this market.
- Look at the main pages in Mobile and Desktop before you share the market.
Which one should I use?
- New market that should look like your main one: Clone market.
- You redesigned one page and want it in another market too: Clone selected page.
- You want a backup, or to move a design later: Export and import a theme preset.
- You want to start over with the starter design: Restore default design.
