Product reviews are the customer ratings and written feedback that appear at the bottom of each product page. You collect them automatically from shoppers, then approve, edit, or add your own from the Reviews page. Only reviews you have set to Published are visible to shoppers, so nothing goes live until you allow it.
How customers leave a review on your store
On every product page there is a reviews section with a form a shopper can open to rate the product. When a customer submits the form, the review is saved with these required fields:
- Fullname: the reviewer's display name (up to 50 characters).
- Email address: required on the storefront form and validated for format (up to 127 characters). It is stored internally and never shown to other shoppers.
- Star rating: a whole number from 1 to 5.
- Review: the written text (up to 255 characters).
Customer-submitted reviews do not include photos, images, or audio. Those media fields can only be added by you from the dashboard.
To keep spam out, each browser session can submit at most 3 reviews per 10-minute window, and the same visitor can review a given product only once. A repeat attempt on the same product silently shows the same success message without creating a duplicate.
Approving reviews (moderation)
Every review a customer submits arrives Unpublished, so it stays hidden until you approve it. This moderation step is automatic: new shopper reviews never appear on your storefront on their own. To approve them, open the Reviews page, select the reviews you trust, and publish them (see the bulk action below). Reviews you create yourself from the dashboard are set to publish by default, so they can go live the moment you save.
Opening the reviews list
In the left-hand navigation, click Reviews. The table shows one row per review with four columns: Date (when it was created, in your store's time zone), Stars (the star rating from 1 to 5), Fullname (the reviewer's name), and Status (a Published or Unpublished badge). The list is paginated at 40 reviews per page, newest first by default. Staff need the Reviews permission to open this page.
Filtering reviews
Click the filter icon to open the filter panel, then use any of these controls:
- Search: free-text field (up to 255 characters) that matches the reviewer's name, email address, and review content. It is not case-sensitive.
- Status: checkboxes for Published and Unpublished.
- Stars: five checkboxes, one per star level from 1 to 5. Tick any combination.
- Date range: Start from and End at date pickers, filtering by creation date. Either field works alone or both together.
- Sort: Created at - descending (default), Created at - ascending, Updated at - descending, or Updated at - ascending.
Click Show results to apply, or the mop icon to clear all filters.
Adding a review yourself
Click Add new review to open the review form, then fill it in:
- Publish: checked by default, so the review goes live right after saving. Uncheck it to save the review hidden.
- Photo (optional): a reviewer avatar picked from the media library.
- Fullname (required, up to 50 characters).
- Email address (optional here, up to 127 characters): stored internally, never shown on the storefront.
- Product (required): use the searchable dropdown to link the review to a product.
- Star rating (required): from 1 to 5.
- Review (required, up to 255 characters).
- Images (optional): up to 4 images from the media library, shown beside the review text.
- Audio file (optional): one clip from the media library. Accepted formats are MP3, AIFF, WAV, and OGG.
- Click Add.
Editing a review
Click any review row to open the edit form, where every field is editable. Two buttons sit at the top:
- Go to the preview: opens the product page so you can see the review even while it is unpublished.
- Go to the product: opens the live product page, scrolled to the reviews section.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Publishing or deleting in bulk
Tick the checkboxes on one or more rows, then click the gear icon above the table. The menu offers:
- Change status → Published: publishes the selected reviews so shoppers can see them.
- Change status → Unpublished: hides the selected reviews from your storefront.
- Delete reviews: permanently removes the selected reviews.
To remove a single review, click the trash icon at the end of its row, or select just that one row and use the bulk delete action. Deletion is permanent.
How reviews appear on the storefront
Only Published reviews show on the product page, listed under the reviews section with the star rating, reviewer name, photo (if set), text, images, and audio. The reviews summary header shows the total count, the average star rating (rounded to one decimal), and a per-star bar chart, all calculated from published reviews only. Shoppers can sort the list by newest, oldest, highest rated, or lowest rated, and load more reviews in batches as they scroll.
Tip: If a published review is not showing on the storefront, open its edit form and confirm the Product field points to the correct product.
Reviews and questions
Internally each entry on the reviews list carries a type: a star review or a question. Both the storefront review form and the dashboard add form create star reviews, and the product page reviews section displays star reviews only. The question type is part of the data model and is not collected through a separate dashboard workflow today, so in practice every entry you manage here is a star review.
