Product reviews are the star ratings and comments shown on your product pages. Customers send them from your store, and you decide which ones are shown from the Reviews page. Only reviews set to Published are visible to shoppers. Staff members need the Reviews permission.
How customers leave a review
The product page has a reviews section. When it includes the review form, shoppers click a button to open the form and fill in:
- Their name, shown with the review.
- Their email address, required but never shown to other shoppers.
- A star rating from 1 to 5.
- The review text.
Customers cannot add photos or audio. Only you can, from the dashboard.
To keep spam out, a visitor can review each product only once, and can only send a few reviews in a short time. A second review of the same product shows the normal thank you message but is not saved.
No review form on your product page? Open the product page in the builder, select the reviews section and add the review form block.
Approving reviews
Every review a customer sends arrives Unpublished, so nothing goes live until you approve it. To approve reviews, tick them on the Reviews page, click the three dots icon, open Change status and choose Published. Reviews you add yourself are published by default.
The reviews list
Each row shows Date, Stars, Fullname and Status (Published or Unpublished), newest first.
Filtering reviews
Click the filter icon to open Filter by:
- Search: part of the reviewer's name, email or the review text.
- Status: Published and/or Unpublished. Tick Unpublished to see the reviews waiting for approval.
- Stars: tick any star levels from 1 to 5.
- Date range: Start from and/or End at.
- Sort: Created at - descending (the default), Created at - ascending, Updated at - descending or Updated at - ascending.
Click Show results, or the mop icon to clear the filters.
Adding a review yourself
Click Add new review. The New review window has:
- Publish: ticked by default, so the review shows at the bottom of the product page right after saving. Untick it to keep it hidden.
- Photo (optional): the reviewer's picture, from your media library.
- Fullname (required) and Email address (optional, never shown).
- Product (required): search and pick the product.
- The star rating (required), from 1 to 5.
- Review content (required).
- Images (optional): up to 4 images from the media library.
- Audio file (optional): one audio clip (MP3, AIFF, WAV or OGG), for example a voice message from a customer.
Click Add.
Editing a review
Click a row to open Edit review. Change any field and click Save. Two buttons at the top open the product page: Go to the preview (works even when the product is not published yet) and Go to the product (the live page, scrolled to the reviews). An unpublished review is not shown on either page.
Hiding and deleting reviews
Tick one or more rows and click the three dots icon:
- Change status, then Published or Unpublished, to show or hide them.
- Delete reviews to remove them for good.
You can also click the trash icon at the end of a row (Delete the review). Deleting cannot be undone, so choose Unpublished if you may want the review back later.
How reviews look on your store
Only Published reviews show, each with the stars, name, photo, text, images and audio. The summary shows the number of reviews, the average rating and, if you turn it on, a bar per star level, all counted from published reviews only. Shoppers can sort reviews by newest, oldest, highest or lowest rating, and load more as they go. The look of the section is set in the builder.
A published review is not showing? Open it and check that Product is the right product, and that the product page has a reviews section.
