How do I put my store in maintenance mode or show a coming soon page?

Turn on maintenance mode in the builder Maintenance page tab to hide your store behind a message while you prepare it. Set the heading, message, and color scheme, and learn how it works per market and how to open your store again.

Maintenance mode hides your store behind a simple page with your message. Use it while you build your store, change many things at once, or want to close for a while. Shoppers cannot browse or order while it is on.

Where to find it

Open the builder, click the gear icon, and open the Maintenance page tab. It has three parts: Maintenance mode, Content, and Appearance.

The settings

Maintenance mode

Enabled: Allows you to prepare your store behind the scenes. Customers only see the maintenance page on all pages. Every page of the market shows the maintenance page instead of your sections: home, products, collections, cart, and the rest.

Content

  • Heading: the main title, for example We will be back soon or Opening on Monday.
  • Message: a short text under the heading. You can format it with the text editor, for example to make a date bold.

The page also shows a small construction icon above your text.

Appearance

Color scheme: which of your color schemes the page uses for its background, heading, and text. The page also uses your store fonts. See Color schemes.

What shoppers see

  • Your heading and message, in the colors of the scheme you chose, on every page of the market.
  • No header, footer, products, or cart, so nobody can place an order.
  • If your store asks visitors to pick their country first, that popup does not show while maintenance mode is on.

Turn maintenance mode on

  1. Open the Maintenance page tab.
  2. Write your Heading and Message.
  3. Pick a Color scheme.
  4. Turn on Enabled.
  5. Click Publish.

Open your store again

Turn off Enabled and click Publish. Your sections show again right away. Your pages are not deleted while maintenance mode is on.

Good to know

  • It works per market. Turning it on in one market does not close your other markets. Switch market with the flag and turn it on in each market you want to close.
  • The builder preview shows it too. While Enabled is on, the preview shows the maintenance page instead of your sections. To work on your design, turn Enabled off without publishing, edit your pages, then turn it on again before you publish.
  • Ads and links: shoppers who come from an ad or a link while maintenance mode is on see the maintenance page. Pause your ads first.
  • A short, clear message works best. Say when you will be back if you know it, and how to reach you, for example your WhatsApp number.
  • To check what shoppers see, open your store in a private window after you publish.
  • Your dashboard keeps working, so you can still manage orders, products, and apps.
