Why is my custom domain not working (unverified, no SSL, www not working)?

Fix common custom domain problems: domain stuck on Unverified, HTTPS or SSL certificate errors, www not working, the site still showing the old website, email stopped after changing nameservers, and domain already connected to another store.

Start here

Open Settings > Domains and click the info button on your domain. Compare the Current value column with the Required value column. After you change your DNS, click Verify connection to refresh the current values. The steps to connect a domain are in Connecting your own domain.

My domain stays "Unverified"

  • Wait a little. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to spread around the world. Most are done within a few hours. Storeep checks again automatically and emails you when it works.
  • Check the A record. The A record on @ must be exactly the IP address shown in the instructions. Delete any other A record or AAAA record on @, including "parking" records your registrar adds by default.
  • Check the domain name. Add the bare domain (example.com), not www.example.com and not a full link.
  • Nameservers: if you chose Option 1, both ns1.storeep.com and ns2.storeep.com must be set, and no other nameservers.
  • Cloudflare users: set the records to "DNS only" (grey cloud) so Storeep can see them and issue your certificate.

"We're currently unable to verify your domain"

This warning means your domain forces every visit from http:// to https:// before Storeep can set up its certificate. Turn off "Always use HTTPS" or a similar forced redirect at your registrar or DNS provider until the domain is verified. Storeep then adds HTTPS for you.

"This domain is already connected to another Storeep store"

The domain was added to another store before, maybe one of your old stores. Add the TXT record shown in the instructions (value starting with storeep-verification=). This proves you own the domain, and it moves to this store once verified. You can also delete the domain from the other store if you still have access to it.

www does not work, or shows a security warning

The www version needs the CNAME record on www pointing to store.storeep.com. The SSL certificate is created when your domain is verified. If the CNAME record was missing at that moment, the certificate only covers the version without www, and adding the record later does not fix it on its own. Add the CNAME record, wait until it is live, then contact support so the certificate can be issued again with www included.

The domain still shows my old website

  • Your browser or internet provider may still use the old DNS answer. Try a private window, another device, or mobile data.
  • Check that no old A record or AAAA record still points to your previous host.
  • If the domain is verified but visitors land on your storeep.com address, the domain is set as a Redirecting domain. Make it your Primary domain.

My email stopped working

If you switched to Storeep nameservers (Option 1), your email records are no longer used. Switch your nameservers back to your registrar's, and use Option 2 (A and CNAME records) instead, keeping your MX records. Email can take a few hours to come back.

An Access Denied (403) page on my domain

The domain type may be Deactivated domain. Click the domain and pick Primary, Alias, or Redirecting.

Verifying the domain on Facebook, Google, or TikTok

That is a different kind of verification. Use the Domain Verifier app to add the meta tag those platforms ask for.
