What WhatsApp Connect does
The WhatsApp Connect app links your personal or business WhatsApp number to your Storeep store. Once connected it enables two features:
- Automated order notifications: a customisable message is sent automatically to the buyer on WhatsApp when they place an order, with an optional redirect so buyers land in the WhatsApp chat immediately after checkout.
- Marketing campaigns: send personalised WhatsApp messages to past customers, with optional scheduling and per-market targeting.
Installing and connecting WhatsApp
- Go to Apps, find WhatsApp Connect, and click Install. Confirm the prompt.
- After installation, the app shows a QR code and step-by-step instructions:
- Open WhatsApp on your phone.
- On Android: tap the three-dot menu. On iPhone: tap Settings.
- Tap Linked devices, then Link a device.
- Point your phone's camera at the QR code on screen.
- Once scanned, your WhatsApp number appears as connected in the app.
The connection uses WhatsApp's linked-device feature. Your phone must remain connected to the internet for messages to be delivered.
Setting up automated order notifications
- Open the WhatsApp Connect app, then click Automated orders notifications.
- Click Add new automated orders notification.
- Configure the following fields:
- Activate: when on, buyers in the selected market receive a WhatsApp message when they place an order.
- Order Redirect: when on, buyers are automatically redirected to WhatsApp after completing their order so they land directly in the conversation.
- Country: which market this notification rule applies to. Select one of your configured markets.
- Notification message: the text sent to the buyer. You can include dynamic tags that are replaced with real order details:
{customer_fullname}: replaced with the buyer's full name.{product_name}: replaced with the name of the product ordered.{order_total}: replaced with the order total amount.
A live preview of how the message will look in WhatsApp updates as you type.
You can add multiple notification rules for different markets, each with its own message text.
Marketing campaigns
- Open the WhatsApp Connect app, then click Marketing campaigns.
- Click Add new marketing campaign.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Campaign name: a label for your reference (maximum 50 characters).
- Market: restricts the campaign to customers from a specific market. Leave blank to target all customers across all markets.
- Maximum recipients: caps how many customers receive the message in this run. Leave blank to send to all matching customers.
- Orders range date: filters recipients to customers who placed an order within a selected date range.
- Launch time: Now to send immediately, or Scheduled to pick a date and time up to 7 days in the future.
- Timeout: the delay in seconds between each message sent (30–600 seconds). A longer interval (3 minutes or more is recommended) reduces the risk of your WhatsApp account being flagged for spam.
- Scheduled date: shown when Launch time is set to Scheduled.
- Product: optionally associate the campaign with a specific product.
- Message: the WhatsApp message text. Dynamic tags available:
{customer_fullname}: buyer's full name.{product_name}: name of the associated product.{product_link}: direct link to the product page.
Campaign statuses
Each campaign moves through the following statuses: Created, Scheduled, In progress, Paused, Completed, Canceled.
Pitfalls to check
- WhatsApp will flag accounts that send too many messages too quickly as spam. Use the Timeout setting to pace bulk sends.
- Your phone must stay connected to the internet. If your phone goes offline, linked-device message sending will pause until the phone reconnects.
- The WhatsApp number shown in your bank transfer app (for payment receipts) is a separate display field and is not related to the WhatsApp Connect linked device.
