Digital products are non-physical items that customers receive as a downloadable file or a link, delivered to their email address automatically after a successful purchase. The form is almost identical to physical products with one key difference: instead of weight, SKU, barcode, and variant stock fields, you supply a file or a URL in the dedicated File tab.
Getting started
- Go to Products in the left menu.
- Click Add new product.
- Select Digital product from the dropdown.
The editor opens with five tabs: Product information, File, Markets, Collections, and Search engine optimization.
Tab 1: Product information
The following fields work identically to physical products (see Add a physical product):
- Publish, Hide, Landing page toggles
- Media (up to 10 items; at least one image required)
- Name (required; max 255 characters)
- Description (optional; max 30,000 characters)
- Price (required; rounded to 2 decimal places)
- Discounted price (optional; must be strictly less than the regular price)
- Discount end date (optional; must be a future date, maximum 1 year ahead)
- Quantity toggle, Minimum quantity per order (1–999), Maximum quantity per order (1–999)
- Gift toggle and gift product selector
Digital products do not have SKU, barcode, weight, or variant fields. There is also no Options tab.
Tab 2: File
Customers receive the file via email after completing their purchase. You must choose one of two delivery methods:
Method: File upload
Upload a file directly from your device. Rules:
- Maximum file size: 10 MB.
- Allowed formats: TXT, PDF, ZIP, WEBP, AVIF, JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, MP3, AIFF, WAV, OGG.
- The file is checked by its actual type, not just the file extension.
- The file is stored securely with read-only access.
Method: File link
Provide a URL pointing to a file hosted on an external service such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Rules:
- Must be a valid URL starting with https:// or http://.
- Maximum 255 characters.
- No file size limit applies. The file lives on your chosen external service.
Tab 3: Markets
Select which markets this digital product is sold in. At least one market must be selected. Prices are calculated automatically per market from your base price. See Pricing and discounts.
Tab 4: Collections
Assign the product to collections, scoped per market. See Organizing products into collections.
Tab 5: Search engine optimization
Identical to physical products: meta title (max 255 characters), meta link (a unique URL slug; allowed characters: lowercase letters, digits, Arabic letters, and hyphens), meta description (max 160 characters), meta keywords (max 255 characters), and a search engine visibility toggle.
Things to watch out for
- If you choose File upload but do not select a file, the save will fail. Switch to File link if you prefer to use an external URL.
- The 10 MB upload limit is firm. Use File link for larger files.
- If you replace the file after the product is published, the new version will be sent to customers on any future delivery. Make sure the new file is correct before saving.
- Digital products cannot have variants. Price and stock are single-option only.
