Store essentials

Set your store name, time zone, and weight unit: the three core settings that affect every date, time, and weight displayed across your store.

What store essentials control

The essentials panel holds the three settings that the entire platform relies on: the public name of your store, the time zone used to display all dates and times in the dashboard, and the weight unit applied to product weights and shipping calculations. Getting these right before you add products saves you from having to correct records later.

To open it, go to Settings and click the Store settings card.

Store name

The Store name field is required. It appears in the browser tab of your storefront, in outgoing emails, in invitation emails sent to staff, and in other customer-facing contexts.

  • Maximum length: 50 characters. Multi-byte characters such as Arabic or Chinese each count as one character.
  • Blank names and names that consist only of spaces are not accepted.
  • The name is saved exactly as you type it, with no automatic capitalisation applied.

Time zone

The Time zone selector is a searchable dropdown. Every date and time shown in the dashboard (order timestamps, transaction dates, staff join dates, and report ranges) is displayed in this time zone. Choosing the wrong zone will make all historical data appear with the wrong hour or even the wrong calendar date.

  • Required: saving with an empty time zone is not allowed.
  • The full list covers zones from (GMT-12:00) International Date Line West through (GMT+13:00) Tokelau Is., including zones for cities and regions worldwide such as New York, London, Riyadh, and Kolkata.
  • Type any part of a city name or offset into the search box to filter the list quickly.
  • If you change the time zone after your store has been running, all existing records remain intact and will simply display at the new local offset. No data is lost or altered.

Weight unit

The Weight unit selector sets the unit displayed on product weight fields and used in shipping rate calculations. The four available options are:

  • Kilogram (kg)
  • Gram (g)
  • Pound (lb)
  • Ounce (oz)

This field is required. Changing the unit after products have been created does not convert any previously entered weights. It only changes the label shown. If you switch units, review your product weights and shipping rules to make sure the numbers still make sense.

Saving

Click Save. A success message confirms the update. If any field fails validation, an error message appears beneath the relevant field.
