What the CMI app does
The CMI app connects your store to CMI (Centre Monétique Interbancaire), the bank card payment gateway of Morocco. Buyers pay by card on CMI's secure 3D Secure page, and the money goes to your CMI merchant account. It is the usual choice for Moroccan stores that want online card payments.
Before you start
- An online payment (e-commerce) contract with CMI, usually signed through your Moroccan bank.
- Your Client ID: the merchant ID CMI gives you.
- Your Store key: the secret key of your CMI store, from your CMI merchant area or from CMI support.
- A market priced in MAD, EUR or USD. CMI stays hidden in markets priced in any other currency. See currencies if you need to check a market's currency.
Install and set up
- Open Apps, find CMI in the Payment gateways tab and click Install on its card.
- Enter your Client ID and your Store key.
- Turn on Activate and click Save.
Settings
- Activate: shows CMI at checkout. Turn it off to hide it without losing your keys.
- Client ID (required): letters and numbers only.
- Store key (required): letters and numbers only, and never the same as the Client ID. Keep it private.
What buyers see
At checkout, buyers see CMI with the Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express logos, and the CMI logo joins your store's payment icons. After placing the order, the buyer goes to CMI's page, which opens in your store's language when it is Arabic, French or English, and in French otherwise. The amount is charged in the market's currency (dirham, euro or US dollar). After paying, the buyer comes back to your thank you page and the order becomes Done with the tag Paid with CMI. How orders are confirmed is explained in How do online card payments work?
Test it
Storeep always uses CMI's live payment page, so CMI test credentials do not work here. Place a small real order on your live store with your own card, check that it arrives as Done and paid, then ask CMI or your bank to refund or cancel it.
Common problems
- "The client ID you have entered is incorrect" or "The store key you have entered is incorrect". Copy the values again without spaces or extra characters. The two values must be different.
- CMI does not show at checkout. Check that Activate is on, that both keys are saved, and that the buyer's market is priced in MAD, EUR or USD. See payment methods.
- CMI's page shows an error. Your Client ID or Store key probably does not match what CMI has on file, or your CMI store is not yet open for live payments. Check with CMI, then save the right values.
- A buyer paid but the order is still Abandoned. The buyer probably closed the page before coming back. Check the payment in your CMI merchant area, then set the order to Done.
