The import feature lets you copy a product into your store from three sources: another Storeep store linked to your account, a Shopify store, or AliExpress. Every imported product is created as unpublished so you can review and adjust it before it goes live.
How to import
- Go to Products.
- Click Add new product.
- Select Import product.
- Paste the product URL into the Product URL field.
- Click Import.
Storeep detects the platform from the URL and handles each source differently.
Importing from another Storeep store
- The source store must be linked to your account. You can only import from stores you are a member of.
- You cannot import a product into the same store it already belongs to. Use the Duplicate button instead.
- Only physical products can be imported between Storeep stores at this time. Digital products are not supported.
- The product URL must follow the pattern yourdomain.com/products/product-slug. Other page URLs are rejected.
- All product images are copied to your media library. Description images from the source store are also copied.
- Variants, pricing, stock, SKU, barcode, and weight are copied exactly from the source. Your primary market is seeded with the source's prices; you add other markets manually via the edit form.
- The imported product gets a new unique URL slug based on the product name, ensuring it does not conflict with existing products in your store.
Importing from Shopify
- Paste the full Shopify product URL (for example, https://yourstore.myshopify.com/products/product-handle or a custom domain with /products/ in the path).
- Storeep fetches the product data from Shopify's public product endpoint. If the store has disabled public product access, the import will fail.
- Images are downloaded, converted to WebP where possible, and saved to your media library. Images over 5 MB are skipped.
- Shopify variants are imported as Text type variant groups. Color swatches are not automatically detected.
- When Shopify shows a sale, the sale price becomes the Discounted price and the original price becomes the Price in Storeep.
- After import, the product has the quantity selector enabled with a default maximum of 3 units per order, and search engine indexing turned on. Adjust these settings in the edit form after import.
- Stock, SKU, barcode, and weight are left empty. Fill them in yourself after import.
Importing from AliExpress
- Paste the full AliExpress product URL (any AliExpress domain, including regional subdomains).
- Storeep downloads the product page and extracts the product data. If the page is geo-blocked or its structure has changed, the import may fail.
- Images are downloaded and converted to WebP. Up to 10 images are imported, matching the product media limit.
- AliExpress color variants are imported with color swatches when the source data includes color values. Other variant types are imported as text.
- When a promotional price is available and lower than the regular price, it becomes the Discounted price in Storeep.
- Stock, SKU, barcode, and weight are left empty. Fill them in after import.
- The description is downloaded from AliExpress and cleaned up. Embedded images are saved to your media library.
After import
Regardless of source, every imported product:
- Is saved as unpublished. You must publish it manually after reviewing.
- Is assigned to your primary market only. Add other markets in the Markets tab of the edit form.
- Gets a unique URL slug generated from the product name. You can change it in the Search engine optimization tab.
- Opens the product edit form immediately after a successful import so you can review all fields.
Things to watch out for
- If all image downloads fail (for example, because external images are unavailable), the import is aborted. At least one image is required to create a product.
- Shopify stores with password-protected storefronts or disabled public product access cannot be imported.
- AliExpress frequently updates its page structure. If the import returns an "Unable to extract product data" error, the page format may have changed.
- Imported descriptions are cleaned and capped at 30,000 characters. Very long AliExpress descriptions may be truncated.
