What a ready-made store is
A ready-made store is a complete store design, already built. Other platforms call it a store template or a starter store. It includes every page, all the global design settings, the images those pages use, and any menus they need. Applying one gives your store the look of the demo, filled with your own products.
Applying is a one-time copy, not an install. Nothing stays linked: the design becomes your own pages, you can change anything afterwards, and later changes to the ready-made store never reach your store.
It is not the same as a theme. A theme only changes the style (borders, shadows, corners, type feel) and keeps your pages. A ready-made store replaces your pages and design settings. If you only want a new style, see Store themes.
Where to find them
Go to Themes and scroll past the theme grid. The second grid is Ready-made stores, with the line "Copies a finished design into your store, replacing your current pages and design. Nothing stays linked, so you can change everything after". Theme cards have an Install button and ready-made store cards have an Apply button, so check which grid you are in before clicking.
What each card shows
- The type of shop it was made for (for example Fashion), the author, and the theme it was designed for, for example "Designed for Silk".
- A round View demo button, when a demo store exists.
- An Apply button.
Look at the demo first
Click View demo to browse a finished store in that design in a new tab. Check the home page, a product page, and the cart, on a phone and a computer. The demo is a sample shop: its products, prices, and reviews are examples, and it does not take orders. Only the design is copied.
What applying replaces
- Every page you can edit in the builder. Pages the design does not style are reset to the Storeep default.
- All global design settings: color schemes, fonts, page width, favicon, and the other builder settings.
- Navigation: if the design comes with menus, new menus are created and its header and footer use them. Your old menus are kept, so you can switch back to them.
Applying never touches your products, collections, orders, customers, reviews, markets, shipping, payments, policies, domains, apps, or staff members.
The design's images (such as the hero photo and favicon) are copied into your own media library, named after the design, so you can swap them for your own. The design's text is written in the language of the market it goes into.
Back up your current design first
Applying cannot be undone. There is no revert button and no automatic backup. To keep your current design:
- Open the builder.
- Click the markets button (country flag) at the top of the left sidebar.
- Open the menu on the market you want to save, or right-click it.
- Click Export theme preset. A .st file downloads with every page, the global settings, and the theme of that market.
To restore it later, open the same menu, click Import theme preset, and pick your file. On the iOS app files cannot be downloaded, so export from a browser on a computer. The AI assistant can also export for you, see AI builder actions.
Applying a ready-made store
- Find the design in the Ready-made stores grid and click Apply.
- A confirmation warns that it will replace all the pages and the design. Click Confirm to go ahead or Cancel to stop. Nothing changes until you confirm.
- It runs as one step, so if something fails, your store stays exactly as it was.
- The button changes to Applied and the previews at the top reload with the new design.
After a few seconds the button can be clicked again. Clicking it again applies the whole design again and erases any edits you made since, so leave it once it is applied.
Install the matching theme too
Applying a ready-made store does not change your theme. If a card says "Designed for Silk" and you use Carbon, the pages arrive but look like Carbon, not like the demo. Install the matching theme first from the Themes grid on the same page, then apply the ready-made store. Switching theme is safe and reversible.
Which market it changes
A ready-made store is applied to your primary market only (the one you picked when you created the store). Other markets keep their design. To copy the new look to another market, open the builder, switch to that market, open the menu on your primary market in the market list, and click Clone market.
After applying
- Replace the demo images with your own, starting with the home page hero.
- Set your logo and favicon again. See Branding.
- Check which menus the header and footer use. See Navigation menus.
- Check that featured products, collections, and reviews have something to show.
- Rewrite the sample text so it describes your brand.
- Click through every page on desktop and mobile.
Who can apply one
Store owners always can. Staff members need the Themes permission.
