How do I install a ready-made store design, and what does it replace?

What a ready-made store is

A ready-made store is a complete storefront design that is already built and ready to install. On other platforms this is usually called a store template or a starter store. It carries every page, all the global design settings, the images those pages use, and any navigation menus they need. Installing one gives your store the same look as the demo you browsed, filled with your own products.

This is not the same thing as a theme. A theme changes only the decoration: colors, borders, shadows, corner styles, and typography. Your pages stay exactly as you built them. A ready-made store replaces your pages and your design settings outright. Read Store themes if you only want to restyle what you already have.

Where to find them

Go to Themes in the main navigation and scroll past the theme grid. The second grid is titled Ready-made stores, with the line "Installs a finished storefront, replacing your current pages and design" underneath it. Both grids use the same card design and both action buttons say Install, so check which grid you are in before clicking.

What each card tells you

• A line giving the niche it was built for, the author, and the theme it was designed against, for example "Fashion, By Storeep, Designed for Silk".
• A round View demo button, when that design has a live demo store. Some cards do not have one.
• An Install button.

Browse the demo first

Click View demo to open a finished store in that design in a new tab. Click through the home page, a product page, and the cart, on a phone as well as a computer, so you know what you are installing.

The demo is a sample shop, not a real one. Its products, prices, and reviews are examples, and it will not accept an order. Only the design is real, and the design is what gets installed into your store.

What installing replaces

An install rewrites three things for one market:

• Every page. Home, product, collection, cart, checkout, and every other page you can edit in the builder. Pages the design does not style are reset to the Storeep default, so nothing from your previous design survives anywhere.
• All the global design settings. Your color schemes, typography, page width, and favicon are replaced with the ones the design ships.
• The navigation the design needs. When a design ships menus, new menus are created and its header and footer point at them. Your existing menus are not deleted, so you can point the header and footer back at them afterwards.

An install never touches:

• Your products, your collections, or their images.
• Your orders, customers, or reviews.
• Anything outside the builder: markets, shipping, payments, policies, domains, apps, and staff.

The images the design ships (a hero photo, a favicon) are copied into your own Media library as real files, named after the design. You can swap each one for your own picture from the image picker in the builder.

All the wording the design ships is installed in the language of the market it is installed into.

Back up your current design first

An install cannot be undone. There is no revert button and no automatic backup. If there is any chance you will want your current design back, export it before you install anything:

1. Open the builder.
2. Click the markets button (country flag) at the top of the left sidebar to open the market list.
3. Click the menu button on the market you want to save, or right-click the market.
4. Click Export theme preset. A .st file downloads holding every page, the global settings, and the theme for that market.

To put it back later, open the same menu and click Import theme preset, then pick your file. On the iOS app the file cannot be downloaded inside the app, so run the export from a browser on a computer. You can also ask the AI assistant to export a market for you, see AI builder actions.

Installing a ready-made store

1. Find the design you want in the Ready-made stores grid.
2. Click Install.
3. A confirmation appears warning that this will replace all the pages and the design of the market. Click Confirm to go ahead, or Cancel to stop. Nothing is written until you confirm.
4. The install runs as one operation, so a failure part way through leaves your market exactly as it was.
5. The button changes to Installed and the two store previews at the top of the page reload so you can see the new design straight away.

The button becomes clickable again after about ten seconds. Clicking it a second time installs the whole design again and wipes anything you edited in between, so leave it alone once the install has finished.

Install the theme it was designed for

Installing a ready-made store does not change your theme. If a card says "Designed for Silk" and your store currently runs Carbon, the new pages arrive but they are drawn with Carbon's borders, shadows, and type, which is not the look you saw in the demo.

Install the matching theme first, from the Themes grid higher up the same page, then install the ready-made store. Installing a theme is safe and reversible on its own, so doing it in that order costs you nothing. See Store themes.

Which market it changes

A ready-made store is installed into your primary market only, the market you picked when you created the store. If you sell in more than one market, the others keep the design they have now.

To give another market the same look, open the builder and switch to that market, open the menu on your primary market in the market list, and click Clone market. That copies all the pages and settings of the market you picked into the market you are currently editing.

What to do after installing

• Replace the design's demo images with your own, starting with the hero image on the home page.
• Set your logo and favicon again, since the design brought its own. See Branding.
• Check your navigation. If the design created new menus, point the header and footer at whichever menus you want customers to see. See Navigation menus.
• Check the sections that pull your own data, such as featured products, collections, and reviews, actually have something to show.
• Click through every page on both desktop and mobile before you tell anyone about the new look.
• Rewrite the placeholder copy the design ships so it describes your own brand and products.

Who can install one

Store owners can always install a ready-made store. A staff member needs the themes permission on their account, the same permission that covers themes and the builder. Without it, the install is refused.
