How payment methods work in Storeep
Every payment option in Storeep is delivered as an app. When you install and activate the app for a method, that method becomes a selectable option at your store's checkout, and accepted methods can show as icons in your store footer so buyers see them before checkout. Uninstalling the app removes the method completely. No code is required.
You manage payment apps from the Apps marketplace (the Apps item in the left menu). Find the payment app you want and click it to open its settings.
The six payment methods
- Cash on delivery: buyers pay the delivery rider in cash when the parcel arrives. No card or bank account is needed on your side.
- Bank transfer: shows your bank details at checkout so buyers can transfer the amount manually. You add one bank account per market.
- PayPal: buyers pay using their PayPal account. You connect a PayPal account by signing in to PayPal.
- Stripe: card payments, plus optional Apple Pay and Google Pay. You connect a Stripe account by signing in to Stripe.
- CMI: the card gateway for Morocco. You enter a Client ID and a Store key from CMI.
- Paystack: the card gateway for several African markets. You enter a Public key and a Secret key from Paystack.
For the exact fields inside each gateway, see Setting up each payment gateway.
What makes a method appear at checkout
A method only shows at checkout once it is both activated and fully configured. Every payment app has an Activate toggle: turning it off hides the method from buyers without uninstalling the app or erasing its settings. Beyond activation, each method needs the following before it appears:
- Cash on delivery: nothing more. Activate it and it appears.
- Bank transfer: at least one bank account added and enabled.
- PayPal: at least one connected PayPal account.
- Stripe: at least one connected Stripe account.
- CMI: both the Client ID and the Store key saved.
- Paystack: both the Public key and the Secret key saved, and a store currency that Paystack settles in: NGN, GHS, KES, ZAR, XOF, EGP, or USD. In any other currency Paystack stays hidden, which avoids a guaranteed gateway error.
How buyers choose at checkout
When more than one method is active, the checkout shows a payment list and the buyer selects one option. Each option carries the method name and its icon. You can run any combination of methods at the same time, and there is no limit on how many you activate. The methods appear in this order: cash on delivery, bank transfer, PayPal, Stripe, CMI, then Paystack.
Installing a payment app
- Open Apps in the left menu.
