A discount with an end date stops on its own: when the date passes, the normal price comes back and the countdown timer on the product page ends. To restart the sale and its countdown every time it ends, without editing the product by hand, add a product rule in the Automator app.
Before you start
- The product needs a Discounted price and a Discount end date. See How do I set product prices and discounts?
- You can show or hide the countdown timer on the product page from the store builder.
- Automator must be installed from Apps. See Automator.
Setting up the rule
- Open Apps and click Settings on the Automator card.
- Open the Products tab and click Manage product rules.
- Click Add new product rule.
- Type a Rule name, keep Activate on and pick a Renewal period, from 6 hours to 30 days.
- Under Products, keep All discounted products, or choose Only specific products and add each product with the plus button.
- Click Add.
What happens next
Automator checks every minute. As soon as the discount end date of a product passes, it sets a new end date one renewal period ahead, so the discounted price and the countdown come back on their own. The rules list shows when each rule last ran and how many times.
Good to know
- A product with no discount end date is never changed, because its sale already runs with no end.
- A product can belong to one active rule only.
- To stop the restarts, turn off the rule's Activate switch or delete the rule. The sale then ends at its current end date.
