How do I change the page width of my store?

Set the maximum page width of your store in the builder Layout tab (900 to 1400 px), how it works on phones and large screens, and how full width sections go edge to edge.

3 min read

The Layout tab sets how wide the content of your store can get on large screens. It keeps text and products from stretching too far on a wide monitor.

Where to find it

Open the builder, click the gear icon, and open the Layout tab. The section is called Page layout and has one setting: Page width.

Page width

Drag the slider to choose the maximum width of your content, in pixels. It goes from 900 to 1400, in steps of 100. The default is 1200.

  • 900 or 1000: a narrow page. Text lines stay short and easy to read. Good for a store with few products or a lot of text.
  • 1100 or 1200: a balanced width that fits most stores.
  • 1300 or 1400: a wide page. More products fit in each row on big screens.

The builder explains it like this: Sets the maximum width for desktop large screens. But on mobile screens width is always 100%. On a phone or a small screen, your content always uses the full width of the screen, whatever you choose here.

Page width and full width sections

Most sections have their own Width setting with two options:

  • Page: the section content stays inside the page width you set in the Layout tab.
  • Full: the section goes from one edge of the screen to the other and ignores the page width.

A common setup is a Full hero or slideshow at the top, and Page width for the sections below it, so images feel big and text stays easy to read.

Common tasks

  • My store looks too stretched on a big screen: lower the page width to 1100 or 1000.
  • I want more products per row on computers: raise the page width, then check the number of columns in your product sections.
  • One banner should touch the screen edges: set that section's Width to Full. You do not need to change the page width.
  • My phone layout did not change: that is expected. Phones always use the full screen width.

Check it in the preview

The page width only shows on screens wider than the width you chose. Use the desktop preview in the builder to see the difference. See Preview modes.

What the page width does not change

  • Columns: how many products or cards show in a row is set in each section, not here.
  • Spacing: the space above and below a section is its padding, also set in the section.
  • Text size: set in each text, not here.

Good to know

  • The page width belongs to the market you are editing and applies to all its pages.
  • You can also ask the AI in the builder, for example "Make my page width 1100". See Building with AI.
  • Changed your mind? Undo the change in the builder. See Shortcuts, undo and redo.
  • Changes go live when you click Publish.
